Happening's at our house

I was talking to my lovely sister on the phone last night and she asked me how to get into the part of my blog that tells her what's has been happening at our house. Hmmm I had a wee look through my blog and saw what she meant, my blog posts are all scrapping and cards these days!! Mind you , what else is there? Joking, ... I do other things as well, not often, but I do!
On Sunday Andrew, Camden and I are heading to Christchurch to Burwood Spinal Unit. BooHOO I am very sad about that because I am going to miss next weeks Bossy Scrapper round, and I will miss my craft room, and my dogs and of course oldest son and daughter!! But most of all... I wont be able to blog or visit you, my blogger friends :( unless I can access the internet somehow on Andrews laptop at the hospital?? That will be my first mission when we get to Burwood, after off loading the van.
I am not too sure how long our stay will be, somewhere between a week and a month they told us, all depends what Andrews scans show, and how quickly work can be done on his wheelchair and computer system. I'm kind of hoping we might be home for Easter... the power of positive thinking is a wonderful thing, so they say!
So thats the latest news here.
Now Im off to make a start on my next card for Card Patterns, as I am going to have to get a little ahead of myself.

Bossy scrapper #5

Sunday brought another fun round of the Bossy Scrapper. This time Jenny was our boss, and gave us instructions on a heritage page. I had these photos on a disc, they were taken off old family slides, of my hubby when he was a tiny little baby! So sweet!! Also in the photos are Andrews gorgeous parents and nanny. Thanks so much Jenny for the inspiration to get these precious photos scrapped!

We had to place a row of five button on our page.Three of these buttons (I cheated, one is a brad!!) come from Andrews mums button tin, thought it would add a personal touch! The lace fabric also come from Murial's linen cupboard, many years ago.

The cotton lace flower, in the centre come from a doily that I believe 'Nanny' may have made. I has been sitting in our cupboard for many a year, I guess we have kept it for sentimental reasons, as you do!! Anyway I got brave, or maybe I was just thinking with my 'scrapping hat' on and decided to snip the flower doily into many flowers. Shhh...don't tell Andrew! My page so needed this flower!

Thank you Jenny, for your lovely clear instructions, and keeping us all working at such an incredible speed. If anyone out there wishes to join in the fun on a Sunday night, do let us know, either on the board at Scrapbook Studio HERE, or leave me a comment on this post and I will tell you how to find your way into the Live Chat room on Sunday evenings.

Bonanza Challenge

Have you seen the latest challenge at Scrapbooking by Design?? if you haven't rush over there now... You still have until mid-night to complete and upload, or email your take on this sketch....

I was up until 3am this morning doing mine, silly A! I'm feeling just a little bit tired now!

My Page title is... My Girl. I have had this photo sitting around for so long that it was very tattered, scratched and marked. I had to repair it in photo shop.

The crocheted flower is snipped from an old hand made doily from yesteryear, it belonged to Andrews mum, and my guess is that maybe Andrews gran made it. It was just sitting around in a bag of rags, so I though I would put it to use!

This is the first time I have used skeleton leaves on a scrapbook page.

The butterfly's on my page are cut from patterned paper, I have added some dimensional glaze to help 'pop' them off the page a little. This button is part of the pattern on this paper, I have threaded cotton through the holes to add interest.

Here's my page, the journaling is taken from the song 'My Girl'

For a look at the other entries click HERE . For details on this challenge, and the prize up for grabs click HERE

Now Im off to get tea on so Im ready for the Bossy Scrapper round tonight...do hope I can keep my eyes opened, and I also hope that YOU will join us!

March Madness

My last post showed you the beautiful journal that Amanda so very kindly made for me.
The latest swap I have completed was March Madness at Glamourgirl Stamps. I got to make, and send something to my dear friend Robyn. Now I loved Amanda's journal so much that I have 'lifted' her wonderful idea and made a similar journal for my wonderful friend.
Although mine is not up to Amanda's standard I thought I would share it with you anyway.
The picture on the front cover was called 'Bath Time', and it makes me smile every time I look at it, so I thought it might just make my dear friend smile to!

Amanda, I loved your idea of the matching card ... so ... I lifted that idea as well! Do hope you don't mind??!

Here is a photo of the inside back cover, it has a pocket with two blank tags.
The photo comes from a photo disc I brought here it's CD #3 and also contains the 'bath time ' image and many other very neat images.

Now just for you Renate, and Wolfgang I am going to pop 'I'm Yours' back onto my blog!! I am missing my old song already also!

Wishing everyone a safe and happy weekend

I've been Tagged

Susan, from New London has tagged me!! This is the first time I have ever been tagged, and as its always nice to do something new Im very happy to play along!

Here is what I have to do...

When you are tagged, you need to follow a few rules. For this game of tag, you need to:
•Open your photo folder on your computer
•Open the 6th folder of photos
•Select the 6th picture
•Post the picture on your blog with a description
•Invite six friends to join the challenge
•Link your six friends to your blog post

...not hard at all is it, the only worry is what might be hiding in that 6th folder!

...what a relief , its not me!! This photo is of youngest son Camden, and was taken by big brother Cody during a successful hunting trip.

Cody is mad about hunting, its the one thing in this life he is passionate about, nice that he takes Camden out sometimes with him, our two boys get along very well indeed.

Now I would like to tag...
Carol
Renate

Bossy scrapper #4 - 22/03/09

Round 4 of the Bossy Scrapper took place last night. I did another page of Camden, I have so so many girly pages of Aimee that I thought it high time I scrapped more photos the boys. Here is Camden at our Elephant Rocks, five minutes around the road from where we life. Elephant Rocks is a popular tourist spot in the summer, and climbing groups and people go there to Rock Climb. Most days though you can go there and never see a soul! It really is a little piece of paradise. Check out a little more about them HERE

Sketch #7

Check out this wonderful prize up for grabs this week at Card Patterns! This wonderful card kit will come all the way from a Canadian based Store called SCRAP MY MEMORIES who very kindly have donated this great prize!

To be in for a chance to win this, and also for a chance to be the next Guest Designer at Card Patterns all you need to do is to create a card based on this weeks sketch, below. Pop over to Card Patterns to check out the details on how to link your take on the sketch HERE

I made this little number. Had a change of colour scheme and went bright! The rest of the design team are so clever and every week I do find it so hard to try and come up with a card that will look okay in amongst the awesome array of professional looking cards they always make. Check out the Design teams cards HERE and you will see just what I mean!

I decided to print an image onto transparency for this sketch. The beginning of my greeting is also stamped onto transparency and attached on top of the chipboard heart so that it meets up with the 'You' that lays underneath the heart.

Thanks for looking, Now show us all what you can do with Michelle's wonderful sketch! Be sure to take a look at the wonderful cards that other paper crafter's from all around the world are creating with this awesome sketch. Check it out!

Check out this very cool give away over on Bevs Blog, called All the things I Love you can find it HERE. Be sure to have a look at Bev's gorgeous cards while you are there!

My Everyday Journey

I had fun creating my page for Carol's challenge of scrapping an everyday journey.
My everyday includes a little bit of country. Duntroon is a far cry from bright city lights and hassle and bussle. Here you can go out with out having to brush your hair or do your make-up. You can even go out to check the mail box in your pajama's, without fair of being seen!

This is my page of a journey I make almost everyday. Although its a bit of an effort at times, especially in the winter, I am happy to breathe in the fresh air and to hear the sound of silence!
And where else can you wander up the centre line of the road without fare of meeting any other traffic!

I love using my stamps on my pages, here I used a cluster of trees to full in the rest of the picture, and wild grass as that grows all the way up the sides of our country roads.

The tree is chipboard and I have coloured it with inks. The butterfly's are rub-ons from Tinkering Ink. thanks for looking at My Everyday Journey and thank you Carol for the challenge.

Charm swap anyone??

Do you like creating little pieces of art that you can wear? Checkout this swap happening at Glamourgirl stamps... click right HERE to check out the details and to sign up!
Take a look below at some of the wonderful charms that were created as a result of our last charm swap.

Thanks Everyone!

Thankyou all for your kindness. Andrew had quite a good night, but not such a great morning. The poor Doctor started off his day with me on the phone again! I had a speedy trip to town to pick up some different drugs and now ... at last, things seem to be looking a bit brighter. Fingers crossed I might be able to squeeze in a little crafting time tonight!!

Such are the joys of being paralised, I used to think it was just about not being able to move and feel, but it is so much more complex than that!

Bossy Scrapper #3

On a brighter note now.... Sunday night's bossy scrapper was a very quiet one with just two girls and myself taking part. I do hope I have not scared everyone away!

Here is my page...

I found this very cool tutorial at Inspirational techniques and tutorials
on how to make this little bird.

Sweet, isn't it!

I am going to make lots more of these little fellas! Thanks so much to Inspirational Techniques for the inspiration!!

Pop over to Scrapbook Studio's Art Room to see the girls wonderful pages or Click HERE to see Cherie's page and HERE to see Debbie's page

A big Thank you to you both for playing along!

Next Sunday Cherie is going to be Boss, hope some of you can join in the fun! Keep a look out for details HERE.

One of Those Days

Hi all. Goodness its been one of 'THOSE DAYS" in our house toady. This morning I had my day planned out in my head... Sort Andrew out, do the house work, update my blog, scrap, make a card , scrap... you know ... lovely thoughts !! BUT Andrew decided to go into early stages of a heart attack, just as a wee reminder to me that these things do happen in our house from time to time. No problem I thought, I will just fix this, well sometimes he is not simple to fix... here I am after tring the usual fix it routine, sitting him forward, hunting for his heart pills that I never usually need to use and at the same time tiring to turn off the alarm bells in my head that kept telling me to call for an ambulance! All the time Andrew was deteriorating fast.

Oh the Grey hairs I have gained today you just wouldn't believe! Anyway, ended up at the doctors instead of at my computer and at the dentist with Camden and the vets with the pup, instead of at my craft desk! Tonight I feel kind of drained!! But Andrew survived, by the time I had him at the doctors he was perking up and looking like he was going to live after all.

If he gets through tonight with no major hick-ups all will seem much more rosie tomorrow!

Tonight I will have to flag crafting as I really need both eyes on Andrew...just in case!

I will however do a quick up-date ...

Thank you Debbie

for this gorgeous blog award!

This is what Debbie has typed on her blog....

I’ve only been blogging now for about 2 months so I am still a newbie myself, but I have met some of the nicest people in this new found world I discovered! Not to mention talented! I have created a blog award for my 10 favorite blogs and I am excited to introduce you to the people behind these wonderful places that make my heart smile.

Let’s meet some friends.

So here’s how it works:

1. The winner may put the logo on their blog.

2. Put a link to the person who sent you the award.

3. Nominate 10 blogs.

4. Put links to their blogs.

5. Leave a message for your nominees written on her Blog

Now I have been blogging for maybe two years now, my friend Robyn and I each set up a blog for a bit of a laugh I guess. Robyn, for the main part as moved on, although every now and then she puts a little something on her blog. I on the other hand am totally hooked!! Like Debbie I have come to know and am in regular touch with some of the nicest people in the world.

Just for a change I thought I would choose one person a day for 10 days to pass this lovely award onto, I do hope thats okay with you Debbie??

Today I choose my good friend ....

Robyn
... because she is a wonderful friend and the reason I have my blog in the first place!

Renate is the lady I choose today and I know I wont even have to tell her, as she is such a thoughtful far away blogger friend and pops in every day for a visit. Renate if I ever get to Germany your house will be my first stop!! You can pop in and say hi to Renate HERE and be sure to check out the wonderful cards she is creating with her copic's
Carol , Like Renate I have passed most blog awards onto you and you might be tired of them by now, but I love your blog and you are another one of 'the worlds nicest people ' so here I am passing this very cute award onto you.
Michelle, yet another 'nicest person' I have 'met' in the wonderful world of blogging. Michelle has recently started a new site called Card Patterns, and it is fair humming with talent! Michelle always leaves lovely comments on everyone s entries and still manages to send happy mail to all of us on the design team. Thank you Michelle!
Marie is wonderful for my confidence, and another one of those 'nicest people'. She is quick to send lovely words to cheer me up when I worry that I'm lagging behind in artistic talent! This lady is not only a wonderful person, but also has loads of talent. you can see it for yourself when you visit her blog.
Today nicest person's award goes to Lyn. I am lucky to have happened upon Lyn's blog some time ago.Be sure to check her out HERE. Lyn does some wonderful things for other people and is very deserving of a Nicest Person award!
Vicki Is my pick for today's Nicest person award. I am feeling very lucky to know so many nice people! Vicki is always an inspiration to me and always finds encouraging words and lovely things to say! This clever lady is a member of the Up2Scrap 2009 Elite team, one look at her blog and you will see why!
Brenda Thanks for the photoshop tutorial. Very nice and very sweet of you to share this with all of your blog readers! Be sure to check Brenda's wonderful blog out HERE, its well worth a look!!

Another blogger I would love to send this award to is Jacque, I have not met Jacque beyond the world of blogging of course but just by reading her blog you can tell she is a wonderful lady and she is an awesome scrapper and makes the most beautiful paperbag albums, check Jacque out at her blog which is called jacque4u2c, how clever is that for a blog name!!
Regina,Thank you so so much for your thoughtfulness! Regina is another wonderful person I have been fortunate enough to stumble upon while in my blogger world! Regina is not lacking on talent either!! Be sure to check out her beautiful cards and her latest project- an altered clock, its awesome!
