Make a Slider Card

Sliding Pop-Up CardYou will need...1 piece of coloured Card (for the top) 10 X15 cm 1 piece of card ( for the back, or base) light enough for your message to show, I have used white. Make this just slightly smaller than 10 X15 cm.1 piece of card 8 X 13.5 cm (for the slider)1 piece of card 9 X 7 cm for the card front (this is the piece on the front of the card that is stamped)Stamp image onto the 9 X 7 cm card, colour or decorate how ever you please. Put this to one side for the time being.Take your 10 X15 piece of coloured card and on the back make a small mark 2cm's in from each corner. On one short side mark the mid-point. (This will be the top of the card where the indent is)Next, using a trimmer or craft knife and ruler, cut a flap from the middle of the card, leaving a 2cm boarder all the way around. DO NOT cut along the short side where you marked the mid- point. Punch a half-circle in the centre at the top of the uncut edge, where you marked your mid-point.Place narrow double sided tape along the bottom, underside edge of the flap, then score a fold just above it (about 6mm is fine). Also score a fold line at the uncut edge of the flap. (This is 2cms down from the top edge). Then score another fold 5cm down from the fold you just made (or 7cm down from the top edge of this piece of card).Fold this up so that the flap makes a mountain on the top of the card.Place this piece of card over top of the slightly smaller ‘base card' and with a pencil mark the base of the frame. Now stamp or write a message so that it will show inside the coloured frame. Decorate as you like.Adhere the coloured frame onto the base card, making sure that you put your double sided tape as close to the outside edges as possible. DO NOT tape the top edge down- just the bottom edge and the two long sides.Take your 8 X 13.5 cm piece of card and decorate/stamp the top.Slide this inside the pocket you have just made, sliding it down until the bottom edge of the slider just touches the top of the bottom edge of the frame. DO NOT slide it all the way down to the bottom- it needs to stop at the top edge of the bottom piece of your frame (which means it stops 2 cams from the bottom of your pocket)Tape the bottom of the flap onto the bottom of the slider by removing the protective cover from the double sided tape already in place. When you pull the slider out the flap will now fold back into a 'mountain'.Place double sided tape onto the front, lower half of your 'mountain’ and attach your first piece of card, already decorate onto the front of the flap (mountain).Punch a hole into the top of the slider and thread ribbon through it.

Merry christmas from our house to yours!

Just been outside to snap a quick photo of your home- lit up , just a little bit, for christmas
Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas

Almost ready for Christmas!! Yay!! Just last minute things to do today. I still have a couple of presents to wrap, potatoes to scrape ready to cart to Dunedin in the morning and am about to make Christmas truffles, then I am almost on the right side of Christmas- I hope!!

Andrew was hoping to dress as Santa on Christmas day, but this has not happened as we have been unable to find any Santa suits this year, plenty of reindeer suits at the warehouse- but he was not keen to be a reindeer, I guess that might have something to do with having two keen hunters living in our house!

I have done no craft work for the past few days, except for some gift cards to go with presents. I was behind again getting Chrissy cards made- but did manage a few (above). Really need to get myself organised much earlier next year.... pretty sure i made this very same promise to myself this time last year!

Anyway wishing you all a beautiful Christmas day tomorrow fulled with love, laughter, peace and much happiness. XX
Yesterday I received this email from Sandra, I feel like maybe it was written with me in mind (har har) .... can you relate to it also?
T’was the night before Christmas, I'm glued to the tree.I'm wondering what Santa brought just for me.
Could it be card stock or chipboard or lace?Or a Cricut, I said, with a smile on my face.
And that's when I heard him,"Hi Santa, " I said
"You know....good little girls Should be in their beds."
"I know I should Santa,And now I've got caught.
But I was just so excited To see what you brought."
"Well, let's take a look In this room where you work.
He shook his head quickly,And left with a jerk.
I heard him exclaim As he put it in gear.
"You've got enough crap,I'll see you next year

Duntroon Vineyard is born.

Tonight , on my desk ,there is once again a big mess!! No surprises there.

My dad has just had his first ever grape harvest bottled. Very exciting and rather tasty, not that I am a big wine drinker any more. You will need to ask my good friend Robyn about that because I'm saying no more on the topic of wine drinking!

I have been working on a label for his wine for some time now. All of a sudden the wine was bottled and here in my room- looking very naked. Altogether there are 70 bottles- so far we have labels on just 14!! Guess what I am going to be doing for the next few day??

NZ Dares Challenge

Just for you Sharon!! I have scrapped this already for the NZ Dares challenge! That was super fast wasn't it!

Santa Parade

Saturday 6th saw us at the Santa Parade in Oamaru.

This year Camden was promoted to the front row with the senior pipers in the band. It was a very exciting and proud moment for Andrew and I as we watched with the crowd!

Saturday, 13 December 2008

Hi there. Just a very quick up-date. Goodness how did life ever get to be so busy?? Since my last post my dear Aunt and Uncle have been to Duntroon for a visit, always great to see them. My lovely aunt had made me some very cute little hats to use in my craft projects. Check them out in the photo above! I have not had a chance to use any yet, but will soon. Aunt Rody also brought some wonderful precious old photos with her that I have scanned and will share on my blog soon.
We had our dear Friends around last Saturday and enjoyed a better part of Saturday with them. On the Saturday evening we went out for a barbecue tea and enjoyed a social evening , it was such a warm night that we sat outside chatting until well after ten pm.
We have had numerous trips to town for all sorts of reasons. Andrew has his plaster cast off and is now in a 'Moon Boot', his ankle is very swollen though so may have to get it looked at again next week.
I have been so bogged down with scrapping of late that I am almost ready to throw in the towel. My fault really, I made a blue and scrapped the wrong kit as part of my design team work for Scrapbook studio- long story!! I have AT C's to finish and still my puzzle pieces are sitting on my desk calling out for attention.
My frog page won the NZ Dares Challenge this time around and I have won a 101 Get Oragnised on line class. http://www.simplify101.com/ How cool is that! Lucky me.
My page that I posted to Up2Scrap apears to have gone astray- so maybe I wont get published after all.
Now I really need to get a card organised for Aimees birthday tomorrow and mid-night is just minutes away- so I must get on.
Sorry for the rushed posting tonight. Will be back soon.
Hope you are all not too frassled by the festive season approaching!!

NZ Dares Challenge - Nature

Here is my page for the latest N.Z Dares challenge.

My Haiku reads : There sits upon a leaf

A shiny frog with eyes so bright

Camouflaged and silent he waits.

I know ..thats a bit corny really, but was the best I could come up with !

Check out the challenge details here-http://www.nzdares.blogspot.com/ and do join in if you have a spare moment in your week!!

Great excitement today in my place! I received an email from Steph at Up2Scrap telling me she would like to accept my page (that I finally emailed in last night) for the Feb publication! I am so buzzing that I am quite sure I will not sleep tonight! What a thrill.
Thanks to the ladies who have encouraged me to submit a page. Now I am guessing that maybe no one else sent anything in, hence the reason I was chosen, but that's okay, I'm still very chuffed!!
Today I have whipped up a page for this weeks NZ Dares Challenge. No I did not have the time to do this- I need to get puzzle pieces and ATCs made...but... I have this photo of a lovely green frog, sitting in my 'really want to scrap one day' pile, this weeks challenge was the excuse I was waiting for. The Haiku took me longer to work out than the page!! Will pop a photo of my scrapped frog up soon.

On my desk this week...

I have my design team work on the go. I was so lucky that my dear sister had just sent me this beautiful photo of her daughter with Elmo, taken on their holiday in Australia, when my kit arrived. Perfect timing! My papers contained pinks and Elmo is red- but my page worked out okay just the same. The photo scrapped, will be in the Scrap booking by Design Gallery very soon, keep an eye out for it at the following link ...
Also on my desk I have my puzzle piece's waiting to be decorated for the Puzzle swap over at Glamour girls
I have one only posted away, one almost finished and 7 still to go!
On Wednesday I played at being Santa and sent my goodies away for the Secret Santa swap over at Scrapbook studio
I had so much fun gathering scrapping treasures to post, the hard part was that the total cost was to be $15, and oh I gathered so much more that I had to keep some myself! How sad!! Had a wee bit of trouble with the choc'y disappearing as well... no it wasn't the children, I hid them in my scrap room! Bad choice!
I took part in my first ever challenge at NZ Dares, see the Layout below titled 'Love Looks This Sweet' and I must have had beginners luck as I was chosen to do the challenge two weeks from now. That was a buzz! Check out the new dare just up today http://www.nzdares.blogspot.com/
I would like to try this one also, another awesome prise is up for grabs. All I need are more hours in my day!
Do be sure to join in my challenge here...http://designteam.typepad.com/my_weblog/2008/11/have-you-taken-the-timeto-think-about-how-you-are-going-to-endyour-2008-scrapbook-album---i-thought-it-might-be-nice-to-en.html The prize is a set of Alcohol Inks and Blending solution and I may just add a little something extra.
Wishing all my readers a safe and happy weekend. xx

My Advent calender has landed.

I received an email tonight from Karen to say she had received her advent calender. Well done to the postie as I only sent it yesterday afternoon, and Karen lives in the North Island!
My calender was based on a clipboard, for Karen to use after the advent! The flower is easy to remove and the chain with the charm doubles as a braclet. The ribbon can be tied to the back, or removed as liked. Inside I have... well I had best not tell-or show yet, until karen has opened them up!

NZ Dares Challenge - Love looks this sweet

I have been scrapping again today! This time I decided to go out of my comfort zone and tried a challenge over at NZ Dares. They have a photo of a very cool tee shirt on their blog- that my daughter would kill for!! Anyway, the challenge is to create a scrapbook page using the tee shirt for inspiration. So many things about the tee shirt inspired me into action. First I spotted those lovely looking sunflowers and my thoughts turned to my sunflower stamp, then to my rose stamp... I do love stamps ... and the winning entry wins...stamps from Purple onion, what better inspiration does one need! Check out the competiton details here http://www.nzdares.blogspot.com/ My sunflowers are coloured with water colour pencils and my roses are coloured with alcohol inks. The arrow stamp is white embossed and spot the cupid down the bottom- that is a rubbon. I have placed all of my elements in such a way so that they kind-of take on the shape of a heart. Oh and the photo is of my lovely mum and dad in their younger day!

Mother's Smile

Today I had a free day, well pretty much! I finished off this Layout of Muriel, Andrews lovely, but saddly departed mum. Muriel is one of the most lovely people, whom I have had the good fortune to share a part of my life with.

Stormy weather

It is so nice to have a day at home today, after a very full on weekend. Sunday saw us back in town at 10am. Camden had to be in to play his bagpipes, with the band, at Oamaru's Victorian Fete. We had mass in the morning , at St Kevin's and latter in the day we attended the prize giving and graduation ceremony for the senior students at the school. Aimee still has next year to go, but made us proud by receiving the Fair Player sports award for the second year running.
We have had a mixed bag of weather today, very hot this morning and then this afternoon we had a horrendous thunder and hail storm. I really was worried that my scrap room roof was going to cave in on me!!

Saturday, 15 November 2008

So hot!

It is so hot here today, has to be in the 30's, I'm sure! We have been at the Duntroon Trail Bike Ride today. Our boys still ride motor bikes, I'm afraid, even after Andrews accident. Camden' bike broke down after the first round and to spite Terry tiring very hard to fix it for him, all attempts failed. Camden had no choice but to bail out- or ride the trial bike Cody had brought home from his work at the Motor Bike shop for Camden to try. Bailing out was not on Cam's agenda so he put on his brave face, and helmet and off he went, looking a little worried about being on an unfamiliar bike. An hour later he was back, all smiles and asking us if we had brought his Christmas pressie yet!!
Cody had not returned when we left. It was just so hot that Andrew had to come home to try and find a cool spot- he's still looking for one!

Thursday, 13 November 2008

Hello there. Thought it was past time for an up-date! I am happy to report that I have finished my Advent calender for Karen. This project really threw me right out of my comfort zone. Always good to push yourself a little I guess. I cannot pop a photo of my somewhat busy and kind of messy calender on yet, have to get it to Karen first.
I do however have photos of my scrap space, taken at 12.30am on Sunday night, well Monday morning really. My long suffering husband insisted on me taking a photo of my mess to pop on my blog!!
Now that I have the calender done its time to get on with the puzzle swap, but I really do want to do a little scrap booking in between pieces as I'm beginning to get withdrawal symptoms I think!!
This afternoon I decided to whip up an ATC for the Quest for a cure challenge, not long after starting I realised it was Thursday- not Wednesday as I had thought. The challenge closed on Wednesday!! However I carried on regardless as it was such a cool idea and it was nice to be doing something other than the calender.

Eel for dinner!

Sunday night saw me happily scrapping and watching the clock as Camden had headed to the river with a friend to go eeling. The deal was that he was to be home at 8.30pm sharp, which after some text negotiating was stretched out until 9.00pm . At 9.30 I began texting my late home lad, to no avail. He failed to send a reply. I did a little more scrapping (is that a bad thing??), come 9.45pm I could concentrate no longer on the task in front of me so went on a torch hunt, at the same time tring to reach Camden on his phone. Just as I headed for the door he appeared, bag in hand, smile on face, and saying how very sorry he was that he couldn't answer his phone because first he was gutting his eel, then he was biking home! What really disturbed me was the slimmy horrid eel he had in his bag... and the fact that he had gutted it meant that he intended me to cook it!!

A big thankyou to Jenny

After seeing Jenny's new look blog I just had to have a go myself at changing my background. I had no joy at all after hours and hours of trying!! So Jenny was very kind and emailed instructions to me and now my blog is looking like a scrapbooker's blog should. Thanks Jenny you are wonderful!!
Check out http://alliebrownslayouts.blogspot.com/ for inspiration and beautiful pages!!

Bossy scrapper #18

What a fun 'Work do' we had last night in the Scrap Cafe. Scrap meek had a tasty menu planned and took our orders during the day. At 8pm I entered the cafe to have my menu choice deciphered as the following :

Shrimp Cocktail - 6 x 12' lay out
Greek salad - felt piece
Baked salmon - (now this sure scared me!!) - orange, purple and white
Baked potato - 3 or more buttons
Hot fudge sundae - card stock only

Wow ! Really put me off my baked salmon for a bit.
I was about to head for the cyber bar with a few of the other scrappers who wished they had ordered something else when Scrap meek tossed this blog link on the table for us to have a peek at http://colorcombosgalore.blogspot.com/ Oh, I was feeling super ready to tuck into my salmon after viewing that!!
Have popped the resulting LO above for you to have a peek at.
I have a 'Take one' that I completed last night, and a 'Take two', as of course I added a little more to my page today- as I always do!!

Stardust and social lifes!

Hi ya. I have just finished watching the movie 'Stardust' with Andrew and Cam. Such a sweet, beautiful movie, I do enjoy a good love story. Fantasy movies are not usually my thing- but I loved this one. So much so that I have just put the theme song onto my blog! Was time for a change anyway. The boys, well Andrew and Cam, are lining up to watch another Box office movie, so thought Id come have a wee play.
Cody is away to town to a mates for the night, no doubt the boys are out on the town. Cody kindly dropped Aimee and Jess (another of Aimee's friends) into town for me. The girls have a friends leaving party on tonight. They are camping at Uncles Davids for the night- in their tent, which may well have blown down by the time they return to it after the party! It was really odd tonight to see our two oldest heading off in pursuit of fun and social life's, didn't seem that long ago it was me heading out on the town...those were the days!! Oh dear I must be getting old
Right away to check out the neat digi goodies Jenny found on a this cool blog.

This is so much fun! Check out Wordle. Its so much fun! Liz introduced wordle to those of us who took part in Sundays nights Bossy Scrapper .
I must send you all a warning here though, If you have things you want to get done today, or tonight DO NOT go there now!! Wordle is somewhat addictive!

Labour Weekend- Monday

Monday was soo hot here that we took time out and headed to this little spot in paradise. The River just down the road. The water was so very clear and inviting that even I took the plunge- be it ever so briefly! The young adults in our house transformed back to childhood and had a blissful time. the boys , being boys spend a fair bit of time devising ways to be more adventurous. The ski road and tie down come off the back of the truck and before we knew it there was a swing in place. A fun time was had by all, a lovely end to the weekend, and so nice to all be doing something together.

Sunday, 26 October 2008

Hi there. I am just doing a quick up-date before I get cracking with bringing in the washing, getting tea on and all of that mundane stuff!! Have the Bossy Scrapper on the go at 8pm tonight so thats an incentive for me to get moving! Yesterday was Andrews Birthday- 43 years young, scary stuff. Yesterday also saw me racing to finish my layouts for Scrapbook Studio, that took priority (of course) over poor hubby's birthday. I did however manage to complete layouts and bake a birthday cake, then upload LO's into the gallery AND make birthday tea. Was lovely to sit down late in the evening with a glass of wine and relax a little.
Today we had intentions of heading to the lake to catch up with Cody and Nud (codys mate from Thailand who is staying with us this weekend), how ever slight problem with a puncher in the car tyre meant that Aimee had to take our van to her work in Kurow, leaving us home bound. Of course I made good use of my time... no I didn't spring clean or garden, I made an ATC card for the latest ATC challenge, the theme is Fantasy and I had such fun getting messy with paint, ink, beeswax etc.

A quick update!

Gosh its been a while since I've popped in to update. Life gets busy doesn't it and it gets so hard sometimes to make time for the things you enjoy doing , the things you HAVE to do kind of take priority!! At the moment I am tring to work out how to make an advent calander for a swap on Glamourgirls. I am also involved in a puzzel swap which will be such fun! I have my puzzel pieces (all nine of them) in the post at last! Two pieces are sitting on my desk awaiting my attention. First I have to get some pages scrapped for the Scrapbook studio. I received a lovely box of the most beautiful papers today, my only concern is that they have to be posted into the Gallery on Saturday- Pressure!! There will be a few night shifts coming up between now and then!
Its my wonderful Hubbys birthday on Saturday, am yet to buy him a presse, a job for Friday!
Catch you all soon, must not linger too long here tonight- lots to do!! Take care.

15-10-08

This week has seen life quieten down a little, yeeharr!! Andrew and I had a lovely lunch with Robyn in town on Monday. It is always lovely to spend a little time with a friend.
I managed to get my altered CD finished so it is, at long last on its way to Ngaere. Will post a pic soon as Ngaere receives it. Kristi was sending her swap to me, and it is so very true Kristi style- perfact! Will take a photo of that and the very special 'other' surprise Kristi also sent me tomorrow. I was super lucky as you will see very soon.
I have my next Travelling Stamp project finished and it will be on its way to Rebecca tomorrow. Still busy with swaps, there is a puzzel one coming next
http://www.glamourgirlstamps.co.nz/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=423and an advent calander!http://www.glamourgirlstamps.co.nz/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=420
Both of these swaps are new to me, so will push me out of my comfort zone-once again!
No more news on Andrews leg. Still on meds for his DVT and still doing the blood test trips to Oamaru.
Aimee and Camden are back at school and both seem settled in after just one day back.
I have popped all of my latest ATC photos on my blog for you to see. Awesome arn't they!
Will pop a few photos on also that were taken in the weekend.
I have started a little tidying up in my garden this week!! Big effort on my part, I would rather be in my craft room!!
Sending smiles and sunshine to you all.XX

9-10-08

Home , at last from a long day in Emergency department at Dunedin Hospital . Why we were sent to ED I will never know, but we sat there from 11.30am until about 3.30, quite obviously Andrew was not an urgent case. Guess we should take comfort in that! Anyway by 5.30 we were pretty much out of there with a plaster cast in tow. Andrew is going to be even heavier for me to lug around now, reckon I will be a contender for the iron woman contest at the end of it all! If Andrew was a walker the Doc said they would have had to put in a metal plate because the break was so bad, but as walking is not looking likely in the near future they went with plaster. Lot less risky for people in his situation by all accounts. After plaster the x-ray showed that the leg was in the wrong position. his lower leg has a slight bend in it where it should be straight. However after another hours wait it was decided that as he doesn't use his legs it would be okay for it to stay that way, unless down the track his bones don't fuse together!! I guess they are the guys who's professional opinion we are supposed to trust. So I have fingers crossed and am tiring not to cringe too much at the thought of how painful it might be if Andrew had feeling!!
I guess tomorrow it will be back to Oamaru hospital for blood tests again and back onto the DVT treatment. Oh for just a little time out in my craft room!
Had to replace our washing machine, the repair man seemed to think it had lived out it's life span of a whole seven years!
Thank you all so much for your well wishes and kind thoughts, that is lovely of you all.
I do hope everyone of you out there had a wonderful day. Bye for now.XX

8-10-08

Today saw us at the Doctor's bright and early with Andrews leg, and Andrew! I rolled Andrews ankle around to make sure the Doc could hear the grinding- Yuck, I am cringing at the thought! He sent us to Oamaru Hospital for an x-ray and we sat there until 4.45pm until the Doc was ready for us...oh the woman's days I have read today...you just wouldn't believe!
Andrew is home in a temporary plaster cast , he has a major break in his shin bone and in his fribia bone ( the other bone in your ankle??). Tomorrow morning we head to Dunedin and will no doubt do a whole lot more waiting and reading of Woman's weekly while the Doctors decide if they should pin the bones or put another plaster cast on.
No craft work is on the cards again tomorrow. I so need to finish a swap I am doing through Glamourgirls http://www.glamourgirlstamps.co.nz/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=416
and Meek's 1+1+1 challenge on Scrapbooking by Design
http://www.scrapbookingbydesign.co.nz/forum/index.php?topic=1012.msg15227#msg15227
Such is life!

Our Camden is a Fire Man! At the tender age of 13 Camden is Duntroon's youngest fireman, and although he is not allowed to attend a fire in the Fire truck until he is 16, he is allowed to go in the water tanker.
Yesterday afternoon the fire alarm sounded and Camden, who had been at the Garage doing running repairs to a motor bike, squealed up the drive in next to no time (aboard the bike, he'd been fixing). It was all I could do to keep the smile off my face!! His boots and fire clothes are on the way, can't wait to see him all dressed up! Definately a scrapbook page coming up there!

October 3rd

Another month closer to christmas!! Where is the year going I just cannot keep up!
This past week has been a busy one, so much trailing back and forth to hospitals! Andrew was diagnosed in Dunedin hospital on Tuesday with Deep Vein Thrombosus. Lucky for us the clot stayed put! Wednesday we went to Christchurch to meet Aimee, David Laura, Tom and little Joel at the airport. That was the high light of our week! So nice to have Aimee home again - well we had her for two nights anyway, she is away to a friends for the night at the moment. LOL!!! I am pretty sure she does love us...really!!
Today we were back in Oamaru for Andrew's treatment, received a phone call from the Lab today, just after returning home informing us that the doctor wants Andrew back in tomorrow for more tests. Blast! Thought we might get Saturady off- no such luck!Unsure if thats a good sign or not, I asked but received a very hazzy answer that told me nothing at all!!
My work in the craft room this week has been null and void pretty much- just had no time. I did manage however to get the october Challenge uploaded to the Scrapbooking by Design gallery and create my layout to go with it. This is my first ever turn at putting up the challenge!! What a worry- no one might do it- no one might like it I am thinking! Pressure!! The ladies on the forum and the design team are very kind though and left me some lovely comments, very very sweet of them! Anyone at all out there looking for a challenge and wanting to make a needie ladie's day be sure to check it out !! Follow the link to the forum by clicking on my 'October Sketch Challenge' picture above this post!
I am up to date, pretty much with my swaps and challenges, although I did miss the Bossy Scrapper on Sunday and was unable to squeeze in the September Challenge, which i'm sad about as they both looked like fun!
The perfect end to the week come this morning when my washing machine died- and the repair man said he could not get here untill Monday!! Come Monday he wont be able to find us for the great pile of washing we are going to be surrounded by!
